Join us on the afternoon of Saturday April 25th, 12-4pm ET for a special, free, in person event with Sonksq Cheryll Holley, tribal leader of the Hassamisco Nipmuc Band. For thousands of years, the Hassanamisco Nipmuc band of so-called Massachusetts have stewarded their lands to create abundant food forests, flourishing riverine ecosystems, and raise Algonquin peoples’ staples such as the ‘three sisters’, beans, corn, and squash, to feed their people in the Eastern woodlands of Turtle Island.
Learn about their connection to their lands, food sovereignty efforts, and how they are revitalizing their language and traditions in the era of #LandBack. Register your interest and we’ll reach out to confirm your participation and invite you to a special pre-event discussion about the etiquette and norms of meeting with Indigenous peoples on their territories, any dietary considerations/access needs you may have, and what to bring/wear. Family and community members are welcome to join this all ages event!
Entry to this community gathering if free for all and offered in the spirit of the gift.
