Organizing your workplace can give you and your coworkers a tremendous opportunity to participate in the decisions that effect you in the place where you spend much of your time. This can create huge improvements in the material conditions of many people's lives, but may not have an outsized impact on the machinations of global systems. However, it does make it much easier to mobilize many people at once to respond to other aspects of society on a larger stage. Further, multiple unions can cooperate to make demands that span city, state, national, and even international borders to directly and democratically effect meaningful change that is capable of keeping pace with accelerating unraveling. In this conversation, we will discuss the potential of organizing to scale fractally and cosmolocally, and how (especially essential) labor can make change ripple through our society.
